Location: Ashford, Kent Contract type: Freelance Start date: August 2017 Duration: 6 months Randstad CPE contact: Mark Dixon (Maidstone branch) The company brief: An education specialist providing new build, refurbishment and fit out turnkey solutions to a select number of clients across London and the South East. Due to a large increase in contracts awarded and invitations to tender across the South East the need has arisen to recruit for a Freelance Site Manager with immediate effect. The project: A new build education project with elements of refurbishment work being carried within the existing school. The project is valued circa £1.2 million and will involve groundworks, steel frame construction, varying external envelope types and fit out including FF&E. Your new role: As a Freelance Site Manager you will be the project lead reporting in to a visiting Contracts Manager and be responsible for all site operations and encompassing contractors. You will need to work closely with the Project Surveyor & Design Manager to ensure the subcontractor and materials procurement is scheduled so that Practical Completion is delivered to deadline. Your role will involve: - Managing a host of internal and external works subcontractors. - Health & safety planning and implementation. - Carrying out inductions, checking contractors RAMs and carrying out H&S site inspections. - Maintaining site diaries and records. - Chairing subcontractor progress meetings. - Liaising with the client, local authorities and client's agents. - Ensuring works being carried out meet specification and the correct quality is achieved. About you: - Previous experience of managing projects in a stand alone position or as a No 2 to a Project Manager on a larger scheme. - Strong organisational skills and be able to coordinate multiple subcontractors. - Good level of IT literacy. - Proven track record of projects delivered on time. - Highly motivated and committed to the highest standards. - Focused on progress. - Be able to prioritise between being in the office and monitoring operations out on site. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Creating accurate detailed reports for your Contracts Manager and Directors. - Hold the CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid accreditations.
